Sunday market in Flagey, Brussels

Every Sunday from morning till 1 PM the Flagey Square is full of fruits, veggies, smelly cheeses and lots of flowers. It has a beautiful charm, especially if the weather is sunny and warm. I like to walk among the stands and enjoy the vivid colors of the displays, I like to watch the people and their bored dogs who accompany them in between the many legs coming and going.

Here are some bits from last Sunday’s Market in Flagey.

Piata de duminica din Flagey, Bruxelles

In Bruxelles nu e ca in Romania unde exista o piata permanenta, zi de zi, de dimineata pana seara. Nu. Aici se organizeaza piata numai in weekenduri. La noi in zona piata de Duminica este in scuarul Flagey. Produsele nu sunt neaparat mai bune sau mai ieftine decat in supermarketuri, dar noutatea este ca pe langa clasicele legume si fructe vin si multi producatori locali de branzeturi sau mezeluri, si vanzatori de fructe exotice de toate felurile.

Pietele sunt in aer liber, se termina in jurul orei 13, dupa care scuarul se curata si se spala.

Piata din Flagey are un farmec aparte datorita florilor ce asteapta cuminti sa fie cumparate de trecatori, sau a painilor din cosuri cochete ce arata foarte apetisant.

After a tour at the market, we went for a walk around Ixelles Lakes, which are just across the street. The baby swans I showed you here grew bigger, the weather is much hotter that the one from this post.

Dupa o tura prin piata, ne-am plimbat si in jurul lacurilor, ce se afla chiar peste drum de Scuarul Flagey.

Imi place sa observ oamenii ce vin la piata cu cateii lor plictisiti sau speriati printre zecile de picioare. Imi place sa ma plimb in jurul lacurilor din Ixelles, poate vad cat au mai crescut puiutii de lebada.
