Hasselt, Belgium

Hasselt is a small city in the Flemish region of Belgium, with a population of around 71500 inhabitants.

It’s a city taken out from a fairy-tale and the big St. Quentin’s Cathedral is lit by warm lights during evening. There is a romantic and peaceful atmosphere that I found in many small Belgian towns.

The city center is car-free, with many shops, restaurants and pubs. The architecture is pleasing to the eye, with small houses and cobblestone streets, the streets are clean and have bike lanes with many bikers (beware if you are not used to this!).

We went there hoping to visit the Christmas Market which was opened a day before, but we didn’t find it, so we ended up wondering around the center, which turned out to be a beautiful walk, despite the freezing weather 🙂
